A Slumdog lover after Raavana

IN his own words, it took three hours of creative brilliance called Hey Ram! to make him an actor from being a confused youngster.

Pan to 2009 and there‘s Prithviraj, shining bright amongst tinsel town hunks, as one of the more promising actors with a repertoire of 47 films.

The actor, who was in Chennai for the launch of the audio of his 'Ninaithaale Inikkum', got talking about his lineup of projects in Tamil, this year. The first of these is 'Ninaithaale Inikkum' has him reprising a role he did in the original Malayalam version as well. “That is a landmark film in Malayalam history in terms of the box office collections. I‘m glad I got the offer to do the role though the Tamil version is more of a vague adaptation of the original,” he says.

The actor is currently working on Mani Ratnam‘s 'Raavana', even as he is awaiting the release of his Malayalam flick 'Pudhiya Mugam' this month.

So, when will he complete 'Raavana' and move on to his next project? “That‘s a million dollar question,” he laughs, adding that he hopes to have completed work for it by October. In the film, he acts alongside Vikram, Priyamani and Aishwarya Rai.

Next, the actor will be teaming up with director Priya V for a film called Cheri. The duo had earlier teamed up for 'Kannamoochi Yenada'. “This film is set in the slums and will, for the first time feature me in a role like that. The film centres on the relationship between a boy and a man who live in the slums,” signs off the actor.
