Why Prithviraj says 'no' to Mohanlal?

One of the most promising stars of this age, Prithviraj has declined many opportunites to act with none other than the superstar Mohanlal. Anyone would frown their brows when they come across this shocking news, so to say. But our hero Prithviraj is the least perturbed. When enquired about this decision during an interview, the actor has a different version of the story altogether.

“This is not right. It has been my dream to act with Lalettan. But just for the sake of that wish, if I make way for a bad movie, then would it not be selfishness on my part. Won't it be cheating the media which has been life bread for so long? That's the sole reason why I did not commit to these movies.

Movies which were planned with Lalettan and me were either weak in the story side or in certain cases my character was poorly etched. Why should I be a part of such movies? If I come across a good story and a role which would help to develop the actor in me, then I would certainly do the movie. As I said earlier, it has been my long standing aspiration.”

Even when Prithvi makes his stand clear, it remains to be seen whether these are genuine reasons or whether the politics within the industry and among the superstars has found its way among the new generation as well.

Raavan runs in to rough weather again

Initial reports from the Athirapply forest area, where Mani Ratnam’s Raavan team had been camping to shoot the film, suggested that a wild elephant entered the shooting spot and created a ruckus. However, news has been trickling in from reliable sources that the elephant that went wild was a trained one used for the shooting. Unfortunately, the mahout lost his life trying to control the elephant.

Meanwhile, when this news reached the Animal Welfare Board of India, they have issued a notice to the director seeking explanation on using an elephant without the Board’s prior approval. Wonder what would be Mani’s reply.

Puthiya Mukham Release celebrations

Super Star in waiting?

Well, he has been a real hot property for quite a while now and it was only a matter of time before Prithviraj was anointed a superstar. With the bumper opening of Puthiya Mugham, he has announced his true powers.

He has some huge hits like Chocolate, Classmates, Nandanam and Swapnakkoodu besides many others under his belt. But the credit for its success was attributed to other factors, like story, other stars or the directors! He was regarded as a star who is not one to ensure great initials as well.

All these are things of past and Puthiya Mugham, an action-masala-entertainer has worked in his favour big time. Is this the new phase in his career? Well, we wish it is! Welcome to the big league, young man.

Prithviraj matching upto M&M

Prithviraj is all set to be crowned as the next superstar in Malayalam.

His new release Puthiya Mugham, a campus-based action movie in which he is paired opposite Priyamani and Meera Nandan, released last Friday and has taken an extraordinary opening all over Kerala. The film, directed by Deepan, is Prithvi’s first mass masala movie as an action hero, and has liberally borrowed scenes from Kollywood superhits like Anniyan, Ghajini and Saroja! The songs from the film, tuned by Deepak Dev, have become chartbusters. One of the major reasons for the success of the film is that the actor himself has crooned a song! We hear that Prithviraj is now being put in the same pedestal as M & M (Mammootty and Mohanlal) in trade circles as he has an opening as big as theirs. Way to go!

Aishwarya Rai’s Tandav Dance for RAAVANA!!

Move over sensuous dancing like Kajrare in Bunty Aur Bubbly, which Aishwarya Rai had done with Abhishek and Big B. Now the gorgeous lady is learning Tandav dance from reputed Indian classical dancer Astad Deboo, which will be a fusion of Kathak, ballet and contemporary form of dancing.

The dance will present a potent mixture of passion, retribution and redemption on the screen in Mani Rathnam’s upcoming mega venture ‘Raavan’. Sources from the set of the film reveal that director Mani Rathnam wanted to have a climactic dance showing life and death, and he zeroed in on Astad Deboo, as he is considered to be the master exponent of contemporary and classical Indian dancing.

Deboo specializes in fusion dance choreography and hence was considered by Mani Rathnam to be suitable to teach Aishwarya Rai these new steps for the upcoming flick.

In fact, Aishwarya Rai is required to perform this new dance twice in the film—first time it will be with hubby Abhishek Bachchan for the Hindi version, and second time with southern superstar Vikram for the Tamil version of the flick.

As the shooting for ‘Raavan’ is taking place into the deep jungles of Athirapally in Kerala and the floors are not very conducive for dancing, Aishwarya Rai has to learn these intricate steps on slippery grounds with her new guru Astad Deboo.

Though Aishwarya Rai had vowed the audiences with her sizzling hot dance performances in flicks like(Kajrare number) ‘Bunty Aur Bubbly’ and with Hrithik Roshan in Yashraj Films’ super hit ‘Dhoom’, but this Tandav dancing is entirely new to her, and the graceful lady is finding it really difficult to come to terms that easily.

However, it must be admitted that Aishwarya Rai was no less graceful while going for classical numbers in movies like Taal’ (Kahin Aag Lage… number) and in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (Nimbuda …..number), and so should not have much difficulty in performing intricate steps for Mani Rathnam’s upcoming magnum opus ‘Raavan’.

‘Raavan’ is a contemporary adaptation of that great epic ‘Ramayan’ by master story teller Mani Rathnam. However, the catch in the film will be that it is going to be depicted as seen from the point of view of Raavan, and not from Ram’s point of view, as is usually the case. The title character of ‘Raavan’ is played by Abhishek Bachchan, and its he who kidnaps Aishwarya Rai in the flick.

This will be Abhishek Bachchan’s third film with Mani Rathnam after ‘Yuva’ and ‘Guru’, which were super hits at the box office. However, it will for the first time after marriage with Aishwarya Rai that Mani Rathnam will be directing Abhishek and Ash together in a flick (at the time of ‘Guru’, Abhi and Ash were dating ).

The upcoming flick ‘Raavan’ also features Govinda, Ravi Kissen, Sonu Sood, etc, from bollywood, and Vikram from southern film industry in pivotal roles.

Mani Ratnam relaxes as rumours about ‘Ravana’ die down

Unconventional director Mani Ratnam is angry these days because his upcoming project ‘Ravana ‘stuck up due to some rumours.

According to sources media is spreading untrue stories about few scenes which are re-shots for the sake of more footage to Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan in order to tone down the scenes where Southern superstar Vikram has overshadowed to the former.

It is supposed that these rumours are the idea of certain theories derived from Mani Ratnam and his team report to the vast jungles of Kerala. Conversely, the true reason leads to delay in the movie shot is that Mani’s bad health and permission to shoot in forests.

But now things are settled down. The crew of ‘Ravana’ is joyfully shooting in jungle.

After all the chit-chats have died down.Mani seems relaxed and starts up with the things regarding movie.

Film shoot disrupted by wild elephant to resume Friday

Thiruvananthapuram, July 30 (IANS) The shooting of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai starrer “Raavan”, disrupted when an elephant ran amok in the jungle where it is being shot, will resume Friday, cinematographer Santosh Sivan said here Thursday. “We will resume shooting tomorrow (Friday),” Sivan told IANS.

The tusker, whose name is Kunju, killed 51-year-old mahout Andavan. After the incident, the road at nearby Athirapally forest was blocked and the cast and crew of Mani Ratnam’s film could not return to their hotel.

“We didn’t see much since we were shooting on the other side of the bridge… so we couldn’t cross over… we had to stop shooting, but I didn’t see anything except the confusion. We had to spend a few hours in a guest house in the forest,” said Sivan.

Neither the actors nor any crew member of the film was injured.

Later the elephant was chained and tranquilised by veterinary doctors.

Besides Abhishek and Aishwarya, “Raavan” also stars Vikram, Govinda and Manisha Koirala. It is being made in Hindi and Tamil simultaneously.

Puthiya Mugham Reviews - Nowrunning.com

'Puthiya Mukham' presents the changing face of Malayalam Cinema. Whether the change that this Diphan-directed film suggests is for good or for bad, only time will tell. On the whole 'Puthiya Mukham' is a tautly knit action movie.

Krishnakumar alias Kichan (Prithviraj), the son of pious Brahmin parents (Nedumudi Venu and Shobha Mohan), is a young guy with the best of tastes and habits. A lover of music, he is a master of percussion instruments, especially the 'mridangam'. His love interest is Sreedevi (Meera Nandan), who is the daughter of his father's close friend (played by Kalasala Babu). Their relationship has the blessings and approval of their elders and friends.

Kichan moves on to Kochi, to study in an engineering college. On the first day itself he wins over the hearts of his classmates with his talk and his playing percussion with the desk. And then, on Freshers' Talent Search Day, he dazzles everyone with an extraordinary performance using all kinds of percussion instruments. The one who is most impressed with him and his performance is Anjana (Priyamani), who is his classmate.

Sudhi (Bala), who is very close to Anjana's family and who is a senior student in the college, wishes to marry her. Sudhi and his brothers Mahi (Saikumar) and Giri (Shammi Thilakan) are goons who have been unleashing a reign of terror in the city. Sudhi misunderstands Anjana's admiration for Kichan as love and thrashes poor Kichan severely and heartlessly, leaving him a wreck. From here the story takes a twist and then on it's action all the way.

Prithviraj does a thorough job of his character and brings to life the two stages in the character of Kichan. Bala renders full support as Sudhi, while Priyamani is good as Anjana. 'Mulla' fame Meera Nandan as Sreedevi is good. The others in the cast too suit their respective roles and act well.

The film is an all-out action movie. The makers seem to have been obsessed with the idea of action, resulting in an overdose of it, with much of it being mindless. The action sequences elicit much clapping and occasional booing from front benchers. But on a serious note it has to be said that the film could have been made much better.

However, coming from a director who had earlier given us an intolerable movie called 'Leader', and a script-writer who has mostly penned below average stuff, this seems to be a well-made and well-written movie. Director Diphan and scenarist M. Sindhuraj seem to be well in control of things. The cinematography and editing too are in tune with the over-all mood of the film. While two of the songs in the film are good, two others - the campus song and the one shot abroad - are not up to the mark and could have been avoided.

Though 'Puthiya Mukham' has a number of defects, it is high voltage stuff and may appeal to the young generation. The action sequences are much better than what is usually seen in Malayalam films. The director and his crew have done a good job as far as this aspect is concerned. Diphan seems to be toeing the lines of his guru Shaji Kailas and could even emerge a hit-maker.

Puthiya Mugham Movie Review - malayalam.galatta.com

Debutant director Deepan's Puthiya Mugham (also spelt Puthiya Mukham), starring Prithviraj, Priyamani, Bala and Meera Nandan in the lead roles, is a high voltage campus flick, which has lots of similarities with the plot of Vikram's super hit action flick Anniyan. With a definite influence from Anniyan, the film revolves around Krishnakumar (Prithviraj), who changes in nature from a soft spoken Brahmin boy to a daredevil hero!

Krishnakumar alias Kichan (Prithviraj), the son of pious Brahmin parents (Nedumudi Venu and Shobha Mohan), lives in a modest agraharam in Kalpathi, where he teaches mridungam to kids and romances Sreedevi (Meera Nandan), daughter of his father's close friend (played by Kalasala Babu). Their relationship has the blessings and approval of their elders and friends.

He soon joins an engineering college in Kochi. On the first day itself, he wins over the hearts of his classmates with his talk and his playing percussion with the desk. And then, on Freshers' Talent Search Day, he dazzles everyone with an extraordinary performance using all kinds of percussion instruments. The one who is most impressed with him and his performance is Anjana (Priyamani), his classmate, and they become very good friends.

Sudhi (Bala), who is very close to Anjana's family and a senior student in the college, wishes to marry her. Sudhi and his brothers Mahi (Saikumar) and Giri (Shammi Thilakan) are goons who have been unleashing a reign of terror in the city. Sudhi misunderstands Anjana's admiration for Kichu as love and thrashes poor Kichan severely and heartlessly, leaving him a wreck. After some time, we come across an all new Kichan, who fears none and geared up to thrash any number of thugs at one go.

The film is completely focused on Prithviraj and in all fairness; he is just rocking in the two avatars, the first one with a clean-shaven look and the other, where he is a toughie. Bala renders full support as Sudhi, while Priyamani is good as Anjana. Meera Nandan looks convincing as Sreedevi. The others in the cast also suit their respective roles and act well.

The other highlights of the film are visuals by Bharani K. Dharan and music by Deepak Dev. The action sequences are much better than what is usually seen in Malayalam films and the songs, especially the title song (sung by Prithviraj himself) are impressive. Puthiya Mugham is all about action and style. No doubt, Puthiya Mugham is just for youth and presents the changing face of Malayalam Cinema.

Ninaithale Inikkum - Asianews.com

The smashing looking hero of Malayalam industry took the Tamil tinsel world by a storm. Prithviraj not only sets the heartbeats racing in Kerala but also in its Tamil counterpart.

Prithviraj is on cloud nine for he is a part of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavana’, sharing space with big time actors like Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, and Vikram apart from Priyamani. He is happy that he also has bagged the Tamil version of his Malayalam Superhit, ‘Classmates’. ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’ will have him playing the lead role as in the original version, along with Karthik Kumar and Sakthi. In this he is paired opposite to Priyamani, with whom he had acted before in Malayalam.

Having acting in the original, Prithivraj had tried suggesting the director Kumar to maintain the essence of the Malayalam version. He had argued several times with him on finding the remake’s screen play and characterisation quite different from the earlier one. But as they say the director will have the last word, Kumar went on with his changes and kept only the basic concept of the original version.

After ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’ Prithviraj has V. Priya’s ‘Cheri’ in Tamil. Then he will share screen with actor Srikanth in ‘Police Police’, a bilingual movie in Telugu and Tamil.

Puthiya Mugham Reviews - Runlinemovie

The latest Pritviraj movie Puthiya Mugham be on theatres from yesterday,Its undisputed director for future Malayalam action flicks has made his debut in Kerala .

The story which is quiet simple has got naught novel.

Prithviraj (Krishna Kumar) comes to college to study engineering. Being a Mridangam artist he gets undue attention from opposite sex.

Bala who is the rich guy in college likes to marry Priyamani who is also his family friend. Priyamani is a fresher and in Krishna Kumar’s class. Like many other girls, she too gets attracted to him and gives him special care. Bala feels insulted and tries to regain her.

The story takes a backseat here the rest are all kicks, punches and slaps. It is at this portion Puthiya Mugham becomes unique. The director takes effort to give each fight an individuality which bestows beauty.

Fans call him the upcoming Megastar. Fighting machine Prithviraj proves to be the Numero Uno angry youth in Malayalam Industry.

Bala has good role. This will be the second role for Bala to gain him some attention in Malayalam. Earlier with his character in Big B he pocketed major roles in more than twenty films, now Puthiya Mugam will provide him roles till his next hit.

Meera Nandan who is also making her presence felt in Tamil is eye candy as the lover of hero. She has the look, Color and flavor of a natural malayali girl.

Priyamani is the heroine. Sudheesh and Jagadheesh are funny at times and have managed not to overact. Lots of young artists acted in this film and have done their part well.

Script by Sindhuraj has got flow. The hard work in pre production stage is visible. The characters are natural. But people cannot identify intensity of their motive. Each action and dialogue is backed by a reason. The film does not have big dialogues or preachy speeches.

Watching Puthiya Mugham is like viewing a Tamil film with the sensibility of Malayalam. Each scene is taken richly. Scores of people are managed and were filled in frame.

Camera by Bharani K. Dharan sets the tensity. Action director Analarassu needs special mention. Editing by Samjith MHD is good. Graphics, Background are all in tune with cinema. Couple of songs seems to be hit.

Technically this film has surpassed most Malayalam films. Puthiya Mugham can’t boast much, but will punch your face, roll you in floor and slug you to wall.

Deepan is proving film is more visual orientated than tailored to story.
It is high time a through out action film has sold tickets in counter. As they say in poster Puthiya Mugham is for the youth and this will be a new beginning.

Puthiya Mugam is an above average action flick which proclaims thunderously the entry of a new star, director Deepan .He is the film director of youth for the coming years.

Puthiya Mukham Movie Review - Prasanthonmoviesmusic

Medium : Malayalam
Starring : Prithviraj, Bala, Saikumar, Jagathi, Priyamani, Meera Nandan
Direction : Deepan
Music : Deepak Dev

‘Puthiya Mukham’ is familiar for us, since it is the name of a tamil film acted by Revathi and her husband Suresh Menon, released 17years before. Though the film didn’t do well, the songs were popular, it was AR Rahman’s second film in tamil. Now, with the same name, a film acted by Prithviraj happens in malayalam also. It has created big expectation even before release, as the song “Pichavacha Naal…” sung by Shankar Mahadevan in his style is already a hit by the visuals promoted through mini screen. Other notable thing is that the hero had sung a title song also for the film.

The film is directed by Diphan (titled so in the credits given). Don’t misunderstand him as a north Indian; this is director Deepan’s new name as per numerology. Deepan (s/o Anandavalli, dubbing artist) was an associate to director Shaji Kailas for years and he has directed a film called ‘Leader’ before. It was a political based action subject acted by Vijayakumar, Saikumar etc. Sindhuraj, who wrote films like ‘Pattanathil Sundaran’, ‘Jalolsavam’ and ‘Mulla’ is the script writer for ‘Puthiya Mukham’. It is produced by Anil Mathew and Murugan (two busy production controllers) and distributed by Time Ads.

The hero, Kicha alias Krishnakumar (Prithviraj) is a percussion expert who belongs to a Kalpathi Brahmin family (Nedumudi Veni and Sobha did the role of parents). He is being engaged to his lover (Meera Nandan). He got an admission in the city based Engineering College. He becomes a hero in the college through his extra curricular skills. His classmate’s (Priyamani) marriage is being fixed with their senior student (Bala). The latter one is very rich (Saikumar and Shammi Thilakan played his brother’s role) and he is notorious through his negative activities also. Though she doesn’t like him, she kept silent, since her family forced her for the marriage. Heroine’s attitude towards Kichu creates an enmity between the villain and the hero. Kicha is being brutally beaten and tortured; also he is being warned to stop studies by the villain. As per his father’s advice, he reaches the college after a gap. Now he takes his new face (Puthiya Mukham) and fought against the villains. The issues happening for the hero, his lover, villains etc are all discussed in the second half.

The theme of ‘Puthiya Mugham’ has got the flavor of films like ‘Kandu Kandarinju’ (malayalam film in later 80’s acted by Rahman, Mammootty etc) and Student No. 1 (telugu film acted by Junior NTR). There also the hero is a soft guy in the beginning who takes his violent character under pressure. Anal Arasu, the fight master has got more jobs to do here. The fight scenes are good compared to a usual malayalam film. But it doesn’t come near a telugu-tamil style in quality. The use of wide angle lenses, fewer strings and unlimited slow-fast mix motions created an uncertainty situation in some areas. Bharani K Dharan, who worked for mega projects in telugu like ‘Dubai Seenu’, ‘Devadasu’, ‘Sidham’ etc is the cinematographer. His work is good, but it is not extraordinary here. Samjith is notable through the excellent cuts done by him for ‘Red Chillies’. But he has also not done anything special on the editing side here. Deepak Dev’s background score is not the best, but it is a relief from the usual noisy bg-score. In general, the film needs big improvement in the making side. Even in the middle of certain hurdles, director Deepan had presented the film without giving much boring feel. Prithviraj, the 45+ films old actor is still not being accepted as a star. He has done the role well; this film can also be used as a stepping stone for his career. Amir Khan's walking style in 'Gajini' is imitated by him in some areas.

It is a fact that irrespective of the language, people always love to watch villains being destroyed by the heroes, if the situation demands. Here also the same thing happens. So why don’t we welcome a malayalam film, if we are ready to accept anything similar from our neighboring states. A change is inevitable…

Don’t anticipate much from ‘Puthiya Mugham’. It is a time pass - action film done by an young actor, who can be a tomorrow’s star also. (His career graph and the busy current projects provoked me to say so).

PuthiyaMukham for youth

One of the promising associates of Shaji Kailas, Deepan, who debuted as an independent director with the movie 'The leader'. His second movie titled 'Puthiya Mukham' will feature young star Prithviraj as one of the leads released today in 58 screens all over Kerala with a good crowd in theatres. As with the title, the director is on the lookout for a fresh young face to debut in the role of a second hero in his movie.Puthiya Mukham will be first one scripted by M Sindhu Raj for Prithvi. Produced by Anil Mathew and Muragan in the banner of Bedistha, the movie will have music by Deepak dev and camera by Raja Rathnam. The film begins with a thread that involves the story of a Brahmin guy Krishnakumar(Prithviraj) , who gots admission in an Engineering College at Kochi. The rest story goes on the way of Krishnakumar's life at college and issues happens there. The director tries to repeat the same story we seen in Kollywood blockbusters Ghajini and Anniyan, which the hero turns to fall in mental disorder diseases. Like that in PuthiyaMugham Prithviraj's character gets into a mental disorder titled 'flash back philominn'. Director Deepan tries capture the scenes as same to Kollywood an Tollywood ,but he fails in catching a film with strong script. The viewers get disappointed with the lack of script. Heroines of film MeeraNandhan and Priyamani makes screen glorious with their beauty. Music by Deepak Dev a main highlight to film, all songs are already gets in hit list. Bala has done a excellent role in this film. This will be the second role for Bala to gain him some attention in Malayalam. Earlier with his character in Big B he pocketed major roles in more than twenty films, now Puthiya Mugam will provide him more roles in Mollywood. But his dubbing seems very bad in Puthiya Mugham. Camera by Bharani K. Dharan and Action director Analarassu makes a good move. Editing by Samjith is fair. The story does not inspire them to perform and all the supporting actors seem to be sleepwalking through their part. Overall PuthiyaMugham is an average film which does not provides any use to the rising star Prithiviraj.

Puthiya Mukham Thrilling Hit....

Super Opening for Puthiya Mugham!

Prithviraj is all set to be the next superstar in Malayalam. His new release Puthiya Mugham, which released on Friday (July 24) has taken an extraordinary opening all over Kerala!

At one of the biggest screens in Kerala, Ernakulam Shenoys (seating capacity 1160), all four shows on Friday and Saturday were houseful !

It looks like Sunday too will experience Housefull shows giving it a 100 percent opening, for the weekend.

In rest of Kerala too, the film has taken a bumper opening. Says a Thiruvananthapuram based trade analyst:Puthiya Mugham is a Kidilan Padam and is attracting the youth audiences, with its great music and action scenes. The film is Prithviraj's best ever solo opening and it looks like he is going to be the next superstar.

The film has been made like a mass masala Kollywood style entertainer by director Deepan. But what really worked wonders is that the producers promoted the songs of the film tuned by Deepak Dev heavily on the channels before release and made it popular.

Prithviraj, the hunk has bounced back with an opening and an action hero image, which augers well for Malayalam film industry starved of superstars.

New Wallpapaers........

GOSS: Mani fumes over rumours

Mani: The task master

The crew of Raavan, who have now moved to a huge waterfall in Kerala for the climax of the film, are having a tough time.

Reason? Mani is shooting the climax in the ‘magic hour’...just before sunrise. That is to say, the entire unit including Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan have to be on location by 5 am.

Says a source from the location, “Mani has now fully recovered from his health scare. He’s so ferociously passionate on location that we’ve nicknamed him Tiger. Everyone calls him Tiger instead of Mani Sir. Every night at 9 pm it’s lights-out for the entire cast and crew. Because they’ve to be up at 3.30 am to be on location at 5 am.”

What caused Mani seethe on Raavan sets?

Director Mani Ratnam is working with some of the best actors and actresses in the Indian film industry for his forthcoming flick Raavan. However, this does not mean that all is well on the sets. The buzz we hear is that Mani is quite upset with Govinda who plays an important role in the film. The reason is that Govinda skipped the shots for three days in a row. While the actor made himself available on time in the previous schedules, trouble started when the unit moved to Ooty to shoot a few shots.

It is now said that Mani might consider to tone down the role and have someone else to dub for Govinda. Will the two patch up soon to get the best results?

Puthiya Mukham Review

In the malayalam movie, Prithvi plays a mrudangam exponent, Krishna Kumar who comes to Cochin to pursue engineering course. The pleasant life of this boy soon undergoes drastic changes. The eventful journey takes him to face the real estate mafia and liquor moguls portrayed by Shammy Thilakan and Bala.

Some portion of the movie was shot in Ottappalam at the famous Varikkassery Mana. A song was canned in Malaysia.

Prithviraj’s upcoming Malayalam film Puthiya Mukham, directed by Deepan, an associate to Shaji Kailas, has completed its entire shooting and post production works.

Deepan had earlier debuted as an independent director with movie The Leader which hadn’t made any impact at the ticket booth.

Puthiya Mukham, a campus masala, has Prithviraj allied with two heroines.

Priyamani plays an engineering student, Anjana. Meera Nandan, whose earlier films were Mulla and Currency has sensational character in this film as Sree Devi.

After the much heralded Thirakkatha, directed by Ranjith, Prithviraj and Priyamani squad in Deepan’s new film.

Prithviraj is teaming up with Meera Nandan for the first time in Puthiya Mukham, which devotes equal importance to love and action. Prithvi’s last Malayalam film Calendar hadn’t made a fare and immediately left theatres. Mukesh had more importance in that film.Suraj Venjaramood, Janardhanan
Vijayaraghavan, Jagathi, and Sudheesh are also in the cast.

Kaithapram Damodharan Namboothiri pens the lyrics as Deepak Dev scores the music.

This big budgeted film was scripted by Sindhuraj and is produced by Anil Mathew and S. Murugan under the banner of Bethesda Productions.

PuthiyaMugham Reviews

PuthiyaMugham is the latest malayalam movie which is released yesterday. The movie features Prithviraj, Bala, Meeranandhan and priyamani in the main cast. The movie is directed by Deepan who debuted in malayalam film industry through this film. The first thing i want to say about this movie is that it has no story in it.

The movie starts with the introduction of Prithviraj as a musician. The plot of the movie is based on the engineering study of Prithviraj and incidents caused in his life in the college. Prithviraj is doing the role of Krishnakumar , basically a bhramin. Meera Nandhan and Priyamani are the heroines of prithviraj in the movie.Bala who is the rich guy in college likes to marry Priyamani who is also his family friend.

It's not a must watchable movie and surely will become an average hit.

Rating- 2.5/5

Some Screen Shot Of Ninaithale Inikkum 2009

PRITHVIRAJ IN MIDDLE OF HIS THOUSANDS OF FANS AFTER THE FIRST SHOW OF PUTHIYA MUKHAM

Ninaithale Inikkum Press Meet Video - Raj Tv

Puthiya Mukham Review - Kerala9.com

Director : Deepan

Producer : Anil Mathew,S.Murugan

Cast : Prithviraj, Bala, Priyamani, Meera Nandan etc.

Story,Screenplay,Dialogues : M.Sindhuraj

Music : Deepak Dev

Review By : Unni

Director Deepan’s second movie ‘Puthiya Mukham’ is very much different and better than his debut film, ‘Leader’. An action flick on the main, ‘Puthiya Mukham’ tells the story of a young Brahmin guy named Krishnakumar (Prithviraj), who comes to do his graduation in engineering in a college in Kochi. Krishnakumar, who is of a peaceful disposition and a lover of percussion music (he plays the ‘mridangam’ well), is in love with Sreedevi (Meera Nandan). Their love has the approval of elders too. Anyhow, with Krishnakumar making his entry into the campus, things take a drastic change. Anjana (Priyamani), the daughter of a Police Officer (Vijayaraghavan) with all kinds of illicit dealings, makes her entry into his life. And now Krishnakumar finds a tough enemy in Sudhi (Bala), who is a real goonda kind of guy and who is engaged to Anjana too. From here ‘Puthiya Mukham’ takes off as an action flick.

‘Puthiya Mukham’ is an out and out action flick, made to exploit and boost the star image of Prithviraj, who’s gone all trendy with his six pack and new looks. It’s Prithviraj and Prithviraj alone who dominates the whole proceedings. The film will appeal to those who look for action, of course non-stop action. And there is of course a bit of humour (courtesy Guinness Pakru) and some romance too, but it’s action in the main and Prithviraj’s one man show to some extent too. But the film doesn’t bore us at any point.

Performances

Prithviraj is indeed good show as Krishnakumar and the actor performs with ease the two stages in his character’s life. He comes out with flying colours in the action sequences. Bala too has done his character in a convincing manner. Priyamani is good and Meera Nandan, though she hasn’t got much to do, too is good. The others in the cast suit their respective roles and there is nothing negative to jot about the performances.

Technical aspects

The technical aspects of ‘Puthiya Mukham’ are all very much in sync with the mood of the film. The cinematography and editing are the highpoints among the technical aspects.

Music

Songs, especially “Picha vacha naal muthal …” and ‘Yadhukula murali…”, are good while the other ones are just average. The background score suits the mood and tempo of the film.

Script

M.Sindhuraj, the writer of many movies, has done a real good work of the script. Of course the film is no class film, but it is a watchable action flick. The scriptwriter needs to be appreciated for having penned the script to suit an action flick with the focus on Prithviraj.

Direction

Deepan has bettered a lot compared to his debut film. This time he seems to be well in control of the proceedings. You may wonder and even criticize that the action has perhaps exceeded limits, but it seems Diphan and his crew wanted to deliver exactly that and they have succeeded in that.

Overall verdict- For young blood!
