Make way for ATM Thirudan

After a creditable showing in Mani Ratnam’s Raavanan, Prithiviraj’s stock in Kollywood has gone up.

The makers of his Malayalam superhit flick Robin Hood wanted to dub it in Tamil, rename it Ninaithathai Mudippavan and release it last month. But the release of Mani’s magnum opus caused Ninaithathai... to be put on hold.

Now that Prithivi has been well received in Raavanan, producer Muralidharan has rechristened his film ATM Thirudan and will be releasing it next week. ATM… features Prithiviraj in a role with grey shades. Like the original Robin Hood, he plays a con man who robs from the ATMs of international banks and distributes the cash to the poor and needy. Bhavana, who barely has any Tamil films on hand, portrays his love interest and is hoping that this film will do the trick for her in Kollywood. Joshi, who has churned out many hits in the past in Malayalam and Tamil, has directed this thoroughly commercial, fun-filled thriller. Others in the cast are Narain, Jayasuriya and Samvrutha, all well-known faces in Kollywood.
