The tragedy of Malayalam movies continued in 2009 also.Out of around 80 movies released in Malayalam around a dozen movies are hit collected good money.Mammootty scored two hits while Mohanlal scored only one.Much hyped Mohanlal movie 'Sagar alias Jacky Reloaded' disappointed the film goers.

'Pazhassi Raja' turned out as the biggest event of the Malayalam film Industry and '2 Harihar Nagar' became a mega hit and a complete entertainment.
Pritviraj and Jayaram scored two hit movies while Mohanlal,Dileep,Jayasuriya ,Sreenivasan and Mukesh scored one each.

There was a unique experience and experiment happened in Malayalam film industry that was Kerala Cafe.
