Prithviraj is back to doing earthy characters which is more close to real life. His long delayed film Manikakallu has started rolling at Nalleppally near Palakkad.
The film is directed by Sreenivasan's brother-in-law Katha Parayumbol fame, Mohan and is said to be a family entertainer.
Prithvi is playing a school teacher in the movie. A veteran director remarked: "Thank God he is not holding a gun in the film. By playing an ordinary school master it will take him back to family audiences". Samvrita Sunil is the heroine and is essaying the character of a tough sports teacher. Mukesh, Jagadish, Salimkumar, Jagathy, and Innocent are also in the cast
Even though Katha Parayumbol was a super hit, Mohan did not get much recognition. Srinivasan walked away with all the credit for making the film a hit.
Manikakallu is a golden opportunity for Mohan to prove his skill. Mohan himself has written the screenplay. P Sukumar is the cinematographer, music is by M Jayachandran and film is produced by Girish Lal.
Let us hope Manikakallu works with the family audiences in Kerala.
