URUMI the Only Indian Cinema Screening at Kolkata Film Festival


Around 150 movies of 125 directors from over 50 countries are scheduled to be screened at the Kolkata Film Festival organized in the city from November 11th to 17th, 2011. The films selected by the screening committee will be shown in 12 theatres across the city.

Urumi, based on a historical fantasy theme of a warrior in combat, will be screened at the Kolkata Film Festival. it is the only Indian Cinema being screened in the Cinema International Category this year. It is also the first Malayalam movie to be screened in Bengal. It would be shown in ‘Nandan I’ on the 16th of November at 7.15 pm.

The movie is directed by Santhosh Sivan, a renowned Director, Cinematographer and Producer in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Hindi Cinema. The film is scripted by Shankar Ramakrishnan and Starring Prithviraj, Genelia D'souza,Vidya Balan , Prabhu Deva, Nithya Menon, Amole Gupte and Ankur Khanna.

Free Passes are being issued for the screening. So all Keralites out there in Kolkata; please make it a point to be there to support the movie, its cast and crew.
